Starring: Lillian Gish, Richard Barthelmess
Directed by: D.W. Griffith
Synopsis: Anna Moore (Lillian Gish) is a poor country girl who is tricked by a city slicker into a false marriage and pregnancy, leaving her to try to escape living a reclusive life of shame.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Eventually Anna comes to the country town of Bartlett looking for work. In scenes earlier we see the town on the day the post office was robbed. A group of men are fast asleep on porches. One of these men is Constable Rube Whipple (George Neville) who is being fanned by an equally sleepy boy. Sitting between the boy’s legs is a little white kitten.
A close up shows the kitten is also falling asleep.
The boy nods off completely and stops fanning.
Another closeup sees the kitten falling even further asleep. There’s a small blooper here because the boy appears to still be fanning slightly but we had just seen him drop off altogether.
Final Mewsings: Sleeping is one of a cat’s favorite pasttimes.
