Synopsis: DCI McGuire investigates when property developer Marcus Devlin is mysteriously found bound, gagged, and unconscious in a house. Meanwhile Pearl is investigating some minor cases that later provide the key to solving McGuire’s case.
Kitty Cameo: This episode, as in many murder mystery series, opens with a shot of a body lying on the floor. The victim is Marcus Devlin (Andrew J. Weston) and an open jar of marmalade lies on the floor beside his head. A ginger (marmalade?) cat enters the frame and starts licking at the spilt conserve . . .

. . . before moving on to the lid.

The flashing of police car lights and a ring on the doorbell followed by knocking causes the cat to look around before running off behind the man’s head and out of shot. The cat isn’t seen again.

Final Mewsings: Cats are smart enough not to be caught hovering over the body.
