Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Two orphans named Christopher (Mark Lester) and Katy (Chloe Franks) find themselves in the home of the benevolent Mrs. Forrest (Shelley Winters) whom Christopher suspects of having a dark secret.
Kitty Cameo: Mrs. Forrest owns a Bengal tabby cat which is seen a few times in the film, first sitting on a table beside her as she is waited on by her butler Albie (Michael Gothard).
The cat is later being held by a boy who is sitting with other orphans listening to Mrs. Forrest perform for them.
Finally the cat is in the kitchen as Mrs. Forrest and Christopher prepare a meal.
Mrs. Forrest slams down a meat cleaver which scares the cat off the counter.
Fearing for their lives, Christopher manages to lure Mrs. Forrest to the pantry as the cat sits outside the door on a chair.
After locking Mrs. Forrest in the pantry, Christopher and Katy scramble to place logs in front of the door so she can’t get out. The cat has had enough and jumps down from the chair, heading up the stairs not to be seen again.
Final Mewsings: Cats prefer quiet kitchens.
