Directed by: Tomm Moore, Ross Stewart
Synopsis: Robyne Goodfellowe (voiced by Honor Kneafsey) wants nothing more than to hunt wolves with her father (voiced by Sean Bean) but when she meets the mysterious Wolfwalkers, in particular the feisty young Mebh Óg MacTíre (voiced by Eva Whittaker) she has a change of heart . . . but how to convince her father?
Cartoon Cat: A one-eyed cat belongs to a woman who sells liquid refreshment from a streetside stand. As Robyne is following her father through the crowd of the city within the castle, she takes cover next to the stand.
The cat eyes her falcon and takes a swipe at the bird as they sneak by.
The woman offers a drink to Robyne but she is quick to run away as the cat watches (with a wonderfully animated flick of one ear).
Sometime later a group of rowdy kids run past with a flag shouting “Down with the Lord Protector!” The woman gets excited and slams her hand against the cat’s tail as she shouts out encouragement to the kids.
When a wolf is running through the town at night, the woman and cat are one of the townspeople looking out their window.
The cat shows up again very briefly on the woman’s shoulder in a later scene.
Purr Blurs: We didn’t go through the entire film frame by frame but just in the scene in the square we spotted several cats in the background! The first one below is a tiny black cat who leaps up onto a rooftop. Maybe you can find more than the ones shown below??
Final Mewsings: We love cats hidden throughout movies!
Many thanks to Nick Wale for letting us know about the cats in this film!
