Synopsis: Betty Parker (Hilda Barry) lives alone in a condemned house and the neighbourhood kids cause her trouble; the exception is her grandson Keith, who visits her regularly, but even he is being tempted into trouble by the other boys.
Kitty Cameo: One of the local police constables encounters Betty at the local Fish & Chip shop and asks her if the fish she has bought is for her supper, but she laughs at the idea saying it’s for the local stray cats she regularly feeds. Betty then returns home and looking around she sees a fluffy tortoiseshell cat standing in the road.

She places a plate on the pavement outside her front door and calls to the cat which remains on the other side of the road (kept in place by some food on the ground in front of it).

As Betty calls again the cat runs across the road towards her.

Watching from nearby are a group of bored youths, the leader of whom picks up a discarded hub cap and throws it towards the now feeding cat, causing the poor animal to look around in fright before running off. Betty angrily reproaches the boys who just laugh at her and then advance threateningly until she runs back inside her house and locks the door.

Final Mewsings: Anyone who feeds stray cats deserves respect, especially from unruly youths!
