Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this show!
Synopsis: A Christmas animated special based on the popular comic strip by Tom Wilson. Ziggy is a little man with a faithful dog who gets a job as a street Santa in order to raise money for charity, little realizing that the company which has hired him is crooked. But this doesn’t stop Ziggy from giving to those who are less fortunate with a little help from some Christmas miracles.
Cartoon Kitty: This was the only animated special featuring Ziggy and it’s a shame they didn’t make more because it’s absolutely charming. As Ziggy is wandering the streets as a sidewalk Santa he comes across the most adorable little yellow kitten shivering in the snow.
He immediately gives the kitten a handkerchief which he wraps around its neck to keep it warm. The kitten watches as Ziggy and his pup walk away, then follows.
Ziggy’s pup accepts the kitten as a friend and the kitten accompanies them through the rest of the show.
When they are invited inside a Foster Home for children the kids immediately fall in love with the kitten.
Later when it’s time for Ziggy to leave the kitten hesitates, as the children want it to stay with them. Ziggy gives his blessing and the kitten stays with the children at the home.
Final Mewsings: The greatest gift is love and what says love better than a kitten?
