Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: The recent screen version of Stephen King’s chilling book finds a group of kids in Derry, Maine battling a vicious entity which likes to feed on children.
Kitty Cameos: At the beginning of the film, Bill’s little brother Georgie (Jackson Robert Scott) is playing with a boat in the gutters when it slips into a storm drain. Inside the drain is Pennywise the clown (Bill SkarsgĂ„rd) who talks to the boy. As they converse, a woman is pulling up the shades on her porch where a tabby and white cat is watching.
When Georgie is attacked and pulled down into the drain, the cat sits staring with wide sad eyes, likely having witnessed what happened.
Later in the film the bullies are watching as their leader, Henry (Nicholas Hamilton) uses his father’s gun to shoot bottles. Henry then suggests a new target and we see a tabby cat nearby.
Belch (Jake Sim) is told to get the cat. He reluctantly picks up the cat and holds it up on a box for Henry to shoot. Fortunately for the cat (if not for Henry) his father catches him in the act and stops him.
Final Mewsings: Cats don’t like clowns whether they pack balloons or guns.
