Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: The girls’ cat Nancy goes missing but is found and returned by a good-looking venture capitalist. While Caroline (Beth Behrs) has hopes of finding a backer for their cupcake business, Nancy has kittens.
Kitty Cameo: At the beginning of the episode Max (Kat Dennings) is concerned over the missing Nancy and her roommate’s seeming lack of concern. Sophie (Jennifer Coolidge) enters saying she has their pussy in her purse. Caroline tries to act like she is thrilled the cat is back but Max is quick to point out the cat isn’t Nancy because it’s a boy. The cat’s nametag says his name is Cinnamon. (It isn’t clear if the cat playing Nancy is also playing Cinammon.)
Featured Feline: Nancy is returned by a successful businessman named Owen (Ian Reed Kesler) and he leaves his expensive bag there and promises to pick it up later.
Max is thrilled Nancy is home and Caroline, who was openly flirting with Owen, is excited by the prospect of finding a successful businessman who may want to back their cupcake company.
Sophie enters and notices they found Nancy before exclaiming, “I knew she’d come back pregnant!” Sophie acts as a midwife to birth the kittens, which is done in a humorous way without any cats actually being on screen (tiny fake kittens were likely used as stand-ins.)
Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): The kittens themselves, all six of them, are adorable and appear several times throughout the episode. Most notably when Max barges (or rather trips) into Owen’s office to demand financial kitten support since his cat got their cat pregnant.
Owen falls for the kittens and wants them all but when they find out he has no interest in their cupcake company (and openly derides it) Max announces, “No kittens for you!” and they gather the kittens and storm out.
In the end their boss Han (Matthew Moy) offers to take the kittens to his apartment building where he’s sure of them being adopted.
Final Mewsings: The girls need to earn enough money to get Nancy spayed!
