Directed by: Joseph L. Mankiewicz
Synopsis: Ulysses Diello (James Mason), valet to a British ambassador stationed in neutral Turkey during World War II, uses his position to steal information from classified documents and sell them at a high price to the Nazis. The hard-on-her-luck Countess Anna Staviska (Danielle Darrieux) is all too willing to also take advantage of his newfound fortune.
Purr Blurs: As Diello travels the streets at night, a couple of street cats congregate around a cart.
The white cat slips away as a small dog skitters toward the tabby and white kitty who briefly stands their ground.
The second cat also moves away from the dog.
Moments later one of the kitties (or another one altogether) can barely be seen scampering on the dark street far ahead of Diello.
Near the end of the film as Diello is desperately trying to escape he makes for the wharf. A tiny white kitten runs for cover as he passes.
Final Mewsings: Cats may be sneaky but they aren’t traitors!
