Maigret – “A Crime for Christmas”

by Ted Davis

Original Air Date: December 26, 1961

Directed by: Campbell Logan

Synopsis: What is the purpose of the mysterious visit by Father Christmas (George Coulouris) to a lonely bedridden girl (Carla Challoner) on Christmas morning? Could he be the culprit in an unsolved robbery? There’s no rest on Christmas day for weary Chief Inspector Maigret (Rupert Davies) and reliable Sgt. Lucas (Ewen Solon) as they gather the disparate pieces to solve the holiday puzzle.

Purr Blurs: Early in the episode, as good hearted Mademoiselle Donceur (Esma Cannon) and devious Madame Martin (Heather Chasen) cross the road, a stubborn street cat absolutely refuses to move from his station by a trash can, even though the women practically step upon the kitty.
