Synopsis: Screen adaptation of the stage play by Tracy Letts. Drug dealer Chris (Emile Hirsch) finds himself in dangerous debt and is desperate for money . . . so desperate he even considers hiring a notorious hit man named Joe (Matthew McConaughey) to kill his mother (Gina Gershon) to collect on a life insurance policy. But nothing goes as planned in this extremely dark comedy.
Purr Blurs: It is raining as the film begins and a black cat runs across the screen in front of a burning trash can.
Later in the film Chris arrives at the family’s mobile home as a black cat is walking away from it, shadowing the dark activities taking place inside.
Final Mewsings: Cats can’t get over just how messed up some people can be.
