Original Title: Rakkauden risti

Synopsis: Lighthouse keeper Majakka-Kalle (Oscar Tengström) is driven to madness when his daughter Riitta (Regina Linnanheimo) runs away with a city fellow who ended up shipwrecked on their small island, especially so when he learns that her letters of a clean and happy lifestyle turn out to be less than true.

Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): Kalle lives in the lighthouse with a dog, a parrot, some small birds and two tabby and white cats as company. A close up of a tabby kitten’s face is the first glimpse we get of Kalle’s life.

As he gloats over his warm porridge, Kalle is startled by the sight of a rodent crawling nearby. The somewhat older cat arches its back at the sight but doesn’t do anything else about the minor infestation.

After being shipwrecked, a man awakens to see the two tabby cats resting nearby.

Still later, Kalle partakes in some libation and makes a face at the older cat who arches their back and hisses.

The final sighting of the cats comes when Kalle is celebrating the impending marriage of his daughter. He has given all the animals a special treat for the occassion, and the kitties are lapping some milk from a bowl.

Final Mewsings: At least the cats had each other for company.
