Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: A young farmer named Tunin (Giancarlo Giannini) travels to Rome on a mission to assassinate Mussolini, then wins the hearts of two prostitutes; his contact Salomé (Mariangela Melato) and the young Tripolina (Lina Polito).

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): In the middle of the film, Tunin returns to the brothel after spending extended time with one of Mussolini’s top guards, Giacinto Spatoletti (Eros Pagni).  He wants to speak to Salomé and Tripolina but the madames push him away, one of them stamping on his foot.  As he limps to some steps a small black and white kitten approaches him.

Tunin tries to push the kitten away with his foot but the kitten persists (it’s likely something appealing was put on the shoes to attract the kitten).

Tunin is frustrated and deflated and talks to the kitten, asking if it is stupid and why does it want to be with him?  He gets up and walks up the stairs but the kitten follows, chasing after a string hanging from Tunin’s cap.

Finally Tunin picks up the kitten and says he will take it back to his hotel, although he doesn’t know what his future may bring.  As he walks he talks aloud, projecting his loneliness onto the kitten.

The kitten is seen on Tunin’s bed in his hotel while he practices drawing his gun.  After this Tunin stays at the brothel and the kitten is not seen again in the film and one wonders if it was left sitting in the hotel room!

Final Mewsings: Men need less titties and more kitties!
