Synopsis: Bernard (Gérard Depardieu) is leading a happy suburban life with his wife Arlette (Michèle Baumgartner) and son Thomas (Olivier Becquaert) until ex-flame Mathilde (Fanny Ardant) moves in next door with her new husband.

Purr Blur: Early in the film we see Thomas leaving for school. A brown cat is sitting outside the door as he exits.

The cat remains as Arlette says goodbye from the doorway.

Later Bernard and Arlette hear cats screeching outside. Bernard thinks they are fighting but Arlette says they are making love. The cat seen at the beginning does not return and is even eventually replaced with a dog who sits in nearly the same spot!

Final Mewsings: Either the cat really did get in a fight or the continuity person was not doing their job!
