Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Biting dark comedy about an aspiring actor named Edward (Sebastian Stan) who undergoes treatment to reconstruct his disfigured face, only to realize the change costs him the role he was born to play.
Kitty Cameo: Edward lives in a run down apartment building and is startled awake when a commotion happens on his floor. He follows emergency personnel to the door of his neighbor, Ostermeier (John Klacsmann) to find the man has hung himself. Edward sees Ostermeier’s blue cat lying on the back of the man’s sofa.

In the next scene the cat is sitting with Edward in his apartment.

The cat lies beside Edward as he suffers through the scariest part of the procedure.

After undergoing the treatment, the building’s superintendent, Ollie (Billy Griffith), arrives to fix the hole in Edward’s ceiling. He questions the presence of Edward, not recognizing him, and asks if he has a dog (he was under the impression Edward was keeping a dog). Edward explains he has a cat but can’t say what the cat’s name is. Edward picks up the cat throughout part of this scene.

When Edward becomes a successful realtor he moves to a fancier home but leaves the cat behind. When he returns to visit his former neighbor Ingrid (Renate Reinsve) he sees she has taken in Ostermeier’s cat. The nameless cat was portrayed by cat actor Okamoki. The trainer on the film was William Berloni.

Final Mewsings: We’re at our best when we rescue a cat in need.
