Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Detectives Chris Lecce (Richard Dreyfus) and Bill Reimers (Emilio Estevez) find themselves working another stakeout, this time with the unwanted help of assistant district attorney Gina Garrett (Rosie O’Donnell).
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): The stakeout takes place in in a lakeside home next door to a house where they believe someone is hiding. Gina comes along with them and brings her pet Rottweiler dog named Archie. When they arrive at the house where they are to observe the neighbors, Archie is sitting in the car and spots a ginger tabby cat passing by.
Archie leaps from the car, chasing after the cat.
The cat starts across a bridge which leads to the other house.
An interesting angle of the chase is accomplished with a fake cat tail stuck on the camera and a view of Archie running behind.
Gina chases after Archie and Chris and Bill chase after Gina. The cat races up the bank into the yard of the other home where eventually he runs up a tree.
Archie barks at the foot of the tree and the cat hisses at him. This all leads to an awkward meeting with the neighbors who the team are supposed to be observing. The cat turns out to belong to yet another neighbor and is known for being chased by dogs in the area.
Late in the film Archie spots the cat again and races from the house after him, disappearing into the woods.
The animal coordinator on the film was Debra J. Coe.
Final Mewsings: Cats wish dogs on stakeouts were more discreet.
