Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM)
Starring: John Gilbert, Eleanor Boardman, Roy D’Arcy
Directed by: King Vidor
Synopsis: The Marquis de Bardelys (John Gilbert) is living well as one of the King’s courtiers and as the romantic focus of many a lady, both married and single. But his life is turned upside down when he is challenged by rival Chatellerault (Roy D’Arcy) to try to win the heart of the hard-to-get Roxalanne de Lavedan (Eleanor Boardman).
Kitty Cameo: The first time we see Roxalanne de Lavedan, she is holding up a little gray kitten and cooing at the animal.
Chatellerault has tried and failed to win the beautiful lady but he steps over to her, asking once again for her hand.
Roxalanne turns Chatellerault down again and returns her attention to the kitten.
After some sharp exchanges, Chatellerault steps backwards and falls over a case on the floor. This causes everyone, including Roxalanne, to laugh at him.
Final Mewsings: Cats are certainly more graceful than a creepy marquis.
