Cat Girl (1957)

Directed by: Alfred Shaughnessy

Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: Beautiful and troubled Leonora Johnson (Barbara Shelley) has a family legacy (i.e. curse) that she’d rather not claim – namely the possibility that she’ll change into a deadly leopard. Slow-witted psychiatrist Dr. Brian Marlowe (Robert Ayres) attempts to cure Leonora of what he believes to be her delusion, but he’s not very good at his job.

Purr Blur: Dorothy (Kay Callard), Dr. Marlowe’s wife, takes a nighttime stroll down a deserted city street – deserted, that is, except for a dark cat on the corner which exits stage left after Dorothy passes.

Final Mewsings: It’s a known fact that cats cure more ills than psychiatrists.
