Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Very loosely based on Thomas De Quincey’s 1821 novel Confessions of an English Opium-Eater. Gilbert de Quincey (Vincent Price), a fictional descendant of Thomas De Quincey, arrives in San Francisco’s Chinatown in 1902 where he joins a group trying to stop Chinese gangsters who kidnap young girls in China, bring them to San Francisco, and auction them to wealthy men as brides or concubines.
Kitty Cameo: At one point the gangsters lock Gilbert in a bamboo cage. A Chinese man enters holding a bowl and carrying a yowling (dubbed in Poor Cat Screech) ginger tabby cat on his right shoulder.
The cat jumps to the top of the cage then is not seen again. This could possibly be yet another screen appearance by Orangey but we have no confirmation of that at this time.
Final Mewsings: Cat on a hot bamboo roof.
