Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: The constant inability of jaded and Europeanized American transplant Frederick Winterbourne (Barry Brown) to recognize and understand the open nature of fellow American Annie P. Miller (Cybill Shepherd), nicknamed Daisy, who is a true ‘Innocent Abroad,’ precipitates a genuine tragedy in one of director Peter Bogdanovich’s better movies, which gets off to an awkward start, but improves significantly as the story progresses and gains emotional momentum and resonance.

Purr Blur: Taking a nighttime walk into the Roman Colosseum, Winterbourne (the name is a definite cue to his character) is paralleled briefly by a stray cat which issues a mournful cry as it stops exactly mid-frame (where a treat has obviously been placed) and waits for Winterbourne to walk past.

Final Mewsings: Some cat actors are better than others at hitting their mark.
