Dark City (1950)

Directed by: William Dieterle

This review contains a Slight Kitty Carnage Warning!

Synopsis: Danny Haley (Charlton Heston), who runs a recently raided gambling location, bilks a visiting businessman (Don DeFore) out of a large sum of money which then leads him to fear reprisal from the man’s criminal brother (Mike Mazurki).

Purr Blur: Danny’s buddy Barney (Ed Begley) is paranoid after the scheme and tells Danny over the phone that he thinks he’s been followed. He then hears a noise in the alley outside his windows. Going over to check, Barney sees a tuxedo cat crawling out from inside a trash can.

Slight Kitty Carnage Warning! The can suddenly tips over and the cat scrambles for a foothold while letting out a Poor Cat Screech, finally falling across a smaller can before running away.

While we are supposed to believe the cat knocked over the can, it’s very clear a string was used to pull the can out from beneath the poor cat actor!

Final Mewsings: Cats actors shouldn’t have the rug (or the can) pulled out from under them!

Many thanks Wahrhaftig for letting us know about the cat in this film.
