Synopsis: During ‘wakes week’, a Lancashire mill girl has an illicit adventure with the owner’s son.

Kitty Cameo: As the opening titles end the scene changes from a row of houses to a shot of the exterior of a single house where a black and white cat sits lapping at a pool of milk next to an overturned milk bottle. The factory siren sounds, scaring it off.

Final Mewsings: Cats are too busy drinking it to cry over spilt milk.
