Emergency Call (1933)

Directed by: Edward Cahn

Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: Surgeon Joe Bradley (William Boyd) decides to join his buddy ambulance driver Steve (William Gargan) on his runs where they uncover several rackets revolving around the hospital in which they work.

Purr Blur: On Joe’s very first run with Steve they get a call to an apartment. When they arrive they hear a woman screaming but can’t access the room where the sound originated. Steve turns his back on the doors when a madman opens them, screaming and wielding a knife. As Joe and Steve begin to fight the madman, a cat in the corner of the screen runs for cover. The cat was not seen before this and is not seen after. In fact one wonders what the cat was doing there at all!

Cat Corpse? And someone please tell me this is not a black cat in a bottle of formaldehyde in the hospital behind Joe and his girlfriend Alice (Betty Furness).
