Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Rita Rizzoli (Whoopi Goldberg) is a resourceful narcotics detective investigating the release of a deadly batch of cocaine known as “Fatal Beauty” which has hit the streets of L.A.
Kitty Cameo: Rita owns an orange tabby cat named Sam. Sam first appears when Rita comes home with a ham sandwich she has bought at a deli. Sam enters the kitchen through a pet door.
Rita opens up a pouch of dry food and puts it in a bowl for Sam before taking a phone call. While Rita is on the phone, Sam gets up on the counter and noses at her sandwich.
Despite her efforts to shoo Sam away from a distance, Rita gets off the phone just in time to see Sam sneaking off with her ham and running back out the pet door.
Later in the film Rita returns home with Mike Marshak (Sam Elliott), who has given her a ride. She stops when she hears Sam meow and sees him on top of the roof. The fact that her front door is open and her cat hates heights makes her realize someone is inside. Sam is not seen again after this.
Final Mewsings: Only a cat could steal from a cop and get away with it!
