Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Veterinarian Francisco (João Campos) finds himself the target of vicious hate crimes but finds a way to get revenge on his tormentors.
Cat Cattle Call: At the beginning of the short, someone is carrying a bucket into a park where several cats gather.
The cats are fed something from the bucket.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): In Francisco’s pet clinic, he has an adorable little Siamese cat named Mieze who is kept in a cage during office hours.
Later the shop is targeted by hateful vandals who wreck the place, scaring poor Mieze.
They take the cage holding Mieze with them when they go.
Implied Kitty Carnage Warning! Posing as a friend and possible lover, one of the men gets invited to Francisco’s apartment but brings the other man with him. It is clear very quickly these men are the vandals and mean to do Francisco harm. They even imply that the meal Francisco has been eating has been his beloved cat. Although one of the men later insists Mieze is alive, this does not spare him from Francisco’s revenge.
Which brings us back to the cats in the park. We’ll leave you to fill in the blanks (or watch the short film!)
Final Mewsings: Don’t mess with an animal lover’s beloved kitty!
