Synopsis: Detective Inspector Jack Kerry (Gerald Harper) investigates the suspicious death of his own father. Initially it looks like a freak accident on a golf course with the man who confesses to the fatal golf shot claiming to be a complete stranger. So why did Jack’s father have a note of the man’s car license plate?
Kitty Cameo: Kerry goes to the Golden Plough pub to meet someone he is anxious to talk to. Already there is Norman Penn (Peter Copley), a local pet shop owner Kerry had encountered previously when seeking information on a dog collar important to the case. Penn is holding a Siamese cat in his arms.

Penn spots Kerry’s arrival and engages him in conversation.

They are interrupted by the arrival of the cat’s owner Doreen Osborne (Dorothy White) and we learn the cat’s name is Chow (although she pronounces it more like Choo).

Despite numerous scenes following at Doreen’s flat the cat isn’t seen again although his absence is explained towards the end of the final episode when Penn arrives on the pretext of selling Doreen another Siamese cat and is told by her friend that she is away and the cat is being looked after by some friends until she gets back. Her friend very clearly pronounces the cat’s name as Chow.
Final Mewsings: Cat owners should really learn how to pronounce their kitty’s name.
