Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains minor spoilers for this movie.

Synopsis: Suggested by stories written by Isaac Asimov.  Del Spooner (Will Smith) is a Chicago police officer in the year 2035, when robots have become commonplace, serving a wide cross section of mankind.  Right when the corporation behind the robot technology announces they are releasing their newest model, its lead scientist Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell) apparently commits suicide.  But Del is suspicious and sets out to find out the truth behind the man’s death, coming face to face with his own personal mistrust of robots.

Featured Feline: When Del arrives at Dr. Lanning’s house, hoping to find some clues left behind by the man, he finds the doctor’s pet cat wandering the building alone.  Just then the demolition machine outside, which had been set to start work the next morning, mysteriously roars to life and begins tearing down the building around them.  It’s a very exciting action scene in which the cat is largely involved.

After that scene we only see the cat once again when Del leaves it with his grandmother (Adrian Ricard.)  It’s not made clear in the film but the cat character’s name was reportedly Asimov!

Final Mewsings: No matter what’s happening, there’s always time to save the cat!
