by Mark Murton
Directed by: Olivier Assayas
Synopsis: Unstable, washed-up French film director René Vidal (Jean-Pierre Léaud) hopes to turn his career around with an update of the silent-era classic Les Vampires and hires Chinese star Maggie Cheung (playing a version of herself) to play the lead, but the production is quickly plagued by petty intrigues and clashing egos.
Purr Blurs: Rene’s increasingly erratic behaviour leads to him being fired as director and the man chosen to replace him, José Mirano (Lou Castel), is shown in his apartment surrounded by clutter as well as two cats, a longhair gray kitten snuggled up beside him on the couch and the other a ginger blur in the background beside the computer.
Final Mewsings: Why not add to your clutter with a clowder?
