Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) has trouble adjusting to change while Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) tries to figure out the best way to present their new baby to the world.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): At the beginning of the episode Cameron tries out an idea for announcing the baby on Mitchell and Lily (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons). He wheels a food serving cart into the room and quickly removes a cloche, revealing Larry the cat beneath. Mitchell says he is worried they will take their baby away.
Later Cameron has Larry in a basket tied to some balloons. Lily approaches and Cameron explains how on the day of the reveal he will place the baby in the basket, remove the security rope and let the baby hover above the table for all to see.
Cameron then gets a phone call and walks away. Lily is about to walk away as well when she realizes Larry is about to float away. She runs back and grabs the rope, pulling Larry back down to safety.
Larry is played by cat actor Frosty. In one scene Claire (Julie Bowen) says “frosty” trying to be cool around a group of young people, a possible nod to the long-time cat actor.
Final Mewsings: Cats should not substitute for baby experiments.
Many thanks to Stevie Holcomb for letting us know about Larry’s appearance in this episode.
