The Iceman (2012)

Directed by: Ariel Vromen

Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains a pretty big spoiler for this film!

Synopsis: The story of Richard Kuklinski (Michael Shannon), a cold-blooded mob killer known as “The Iceman.”

Kitty Cameo: Near the end of the film, Kuklinski is preparing what appears to be egg salad sandwiches in the trunk of his car. He is lacing the food with poison in order to complete a hit. A white Persian cat appears near the car.

Kuklinski offers a spoonful of the poisoned egg salad to the cat who licks it up eagerly (in one shot it is clear the cat is being fed cat food and not egg salad).

As Kuklinski is about to drive away with his wife he notices the Persian cat walking near the car, unaffected by the supposed poison. This tips him off that something is wrong.

The animal coordinator on the film was Tracy A. Oliver and the trainer was Randy Moore. The main animal coordinator was Sid Yost from Amazing Animals who has since lost his license to supply animals to the entertainment industry.

Final Mewsings: Cats should never accept egg salad from strangers.
