Mr. and Mrs. Smith (1952 – 1954)

Synopsis: A TV adaptation of the popular book series finds mystery magazine publisher Jerry North (Richard Denning) solving crimes with his wife Pamela (Barbara Britton).

Cartoon Cat: In the original books Mr. and Mrs. North own a black cat named Pete. Pete may well appear in the television series but we have not had a chance to review all of the episodes. However, there is a very cute end animation for the show which featured caricatures of Mr. and Mrs. North about to kiss. A black cat (presumably Pete) interrupts them with a meow and looks coy.

To the tune of “Shoo Fly, Don’t Bother Me”, Mrs. Norris picks up Pete by the scruff and deposits him outside the door.

Mrs. North then closes the door and Pete meows again.

Final Mewsings: Sleuthing couples apparently don’t like to kiss in front of cats.
