Synopsis: A Maine Congressman unexpectedly dies of a heart attack and Jessica (Angela Lansbury) is asked to step in to the position for a few weeks when suspicions about the man’s death come to light.
Kitty Cameo: In one scene Jessica meets with noted reporter Kaye Sheppard (Edie Adams) in a restaurant. Kaye is holding a long-haired white cat.
The cat actor is startled when the man playing the maitre d’ puts a menu on the table.
Kaye explains the cat’s name is Peanuts and that he was given to her by a former occupant of the white house. “I defy you to guess which one!” Kaye says playfully.
A waiter named Richard brings a glass of milk and Kaye puts Peanuts down on the floor where Richard pours the milk into a fancy bowl for the cat. “I shouldn’t think they’d allow that,” Jessica comments. “They don’t,” Kaye states.
Final Mewsings: Restaurant menus make cats nervous.
