Directed by: Anthony Hopkins
Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Screenwriter Felix Bonhoeffer (Anthony Hopkins) finds himself lost between fantasy and reality in this mind-bending film.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): In one scene a woman named Tracy (Lisa Pepper) is ecstatic to see herself on the news after sleeping through a freeway shooting in Felix’s car. A ginger tabby cat named Stormy is lying on the couch.
Tracy points herself out on the television to Stormy. Stormy is also seen in black and white as a photograph.
The cat is seen several times after this in quick clips, reversed and darkened. There is also a Poor Cat Screech on the soundtrack at one point.
Closer to the end of the film, we see Felix in his real life as a writer at home. His wife Gina (Stella Arroyave) enters to tell him dinner is ready. She is holding the same ginger tabby cat and Felix greets the cat as Stormy.
Later the scene is played out almost the same except this time Gina is asking him to take out the garbage. Once again he greets the cat Stormy.
Final Mewsings: Cats aren’t bothered by linear discordance.
Many thanks to Mark Murton for letting us know about the cat in this film.
