Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Hank Sherman (Robert Young) is a law student who is determined to bring down a group of racketeers.
Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): After landing a job as a chauffer, Hank falls for the boss’s secretary Peg (Florence Rice). He is driving her out to a prison when he stops at a roadside diner for lunch. As he approaches the counter, four adorable tabby and white kittens are in a basket on the counter.
There’s a little toy dangling above the basket which Hank uses to play with the kittens as he orders from the man behind the counter (George Chandler).
Peg is anxious to get to the prison by noon and runs to the counter to insist they get going.
Hank tells Peg not to worry but she says she will drive the car herself. Hank dawdles a moment longer to play with the kittens. The cats are not seen again and mentioned only when the lunch counter man brings the burgers and drinks to the car. “Feed ’em to the cats, will ya?” Hank tells the man. “But I already fed ’em!” the man says.
Final Mewsings: Forget lunch, give me four kittens . . . to go!
