Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A laid back L.A. dude named Jamie (Andre Hyland) plans a 4th of July barbecue but his plans quickly go off the rails.
Kitty Cameos: Jamie lives with a roommate named Derek who is out of town. Derek’s girlfriend Jenny (Yasmine Kittles) has left him a list of chores including feeding the cats. It is clear that Derek loves his cats, as a couple of cats are either in photos with him or on magnets holding the photos up.
In the middle of the film we see two tabby cats briefly as Jamie feeds them before the barbecue.
As more people arrive for the party, Jamie warns them not to let the cats out. Eventually one does escape, a cat named Steve Sanders. Jamie searches for the cat around the premises with his friend but the kitty is not found. At the end of the film, Jamie is carrying the last of his possessions from the house when he finds Steve Sanders on the stairs.
He places the cat inside the house.
The cats playing the two eating cats (billed as Cat Eating 1 and Cat Eating 2) were Turtle Lee Lawson and Rumble Downey Junior. Steve Sanders played himself and a credit at the end of the film reveals that the cat actor passed away.
Final Mewsings: RIP Steve Sanders; your star was brief but shone brightly.
