Synopsis: Granny (Irene Ryan) whips up a batch of extra strong tonic which attracts the attention of a new neighbor, the Countess Maria (Jean Willes).

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer) During the course of the episode, Mrs. Drysdale (Harriet E. MacGibbon) dumps Granny’s tonic into the cement pond (swimming pool). Granny is upset because she doesn’t have enough ingredients to make more tonic for the Countess’ party. Elly May is out back with a tiny tabby kitten named Tommy. Tommy mews as Elly May sets a bowl of water in front of him. “Now don’t cry, Tommy,” she says, “I know you’re hot in your wooly coat. Here’s some nice cool water for you.”

Granny comes out and asks Elly May if she’s set up her stove, as she plans on making some chitlin’s for the party instead. She sees the kitten and suggests it’s no place for such a tiny critter to be since the smoke will be blowing its way. Granny picks Tommy who roars like a lion.

Startled, Granny sets Tommy back on the chair and asks what it’s been drinking. Elly May explains that she just gave the kitten some water from the cement pond. Granny tastes the pool water and realizes her tonic has been dilluted down to be just right for “little critters and city folk.”

Final Mewsings: Kittens are too young to be drinking tonic.
