English Title: Tiger the Cat
Directed by: Arnolds Burovs
Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: In this Latvian short film a naughty little boy is shrunk in size and becomes threatened by the very cat he teased in a clever combination of live action footage and stop motion animation.
Featured Feline: Tiger the cat is a young ginger tabby cat who is in the playroom of the boy. The boy rolls a toy goat into the blocks where the cat is hanging on and knocks him to the ground.
The boy then stomps around, scaring the poor cat.
After shooting cherries at a poster of a magician outside, the image comes to life and shrinks the boy. The cat quickly starts to chase him.
Running back through the wall, the cat continues to follow the boy.
In one shot of the stairs a fake cat is used. The cat is real in every other shot.
The magician plays tricks, making walls and castles out of blocks to impede the boy. The tabby has a run in with a ball.
Desperate to escape, the boy fixes his toy goat and they both run away from the monster cat whose meow sounds like a roar.
Eventually the boy flies outside on the goat where the magician poster changes him back to normal size. The cat jumps out the window to join him.
The boy pets the cat nicely, having learned to be gentle and kind.
The end credits roll over a shot of the sleeping kitty.
Final Mewsings: Always be kind to cats!
