English Title: The Soft Skin
Les Films du Carrosse
Starring: Jean Desailly, Françoise Dorléac, Nelly Benedetti
Directed by: François Truffaut
Synopsis: Pierre Lachenay (Jean Desailly) is a noted publisher and lecturer who falls for a pretty stewardess named Nicole (Françoise Dorléac) while in Lisbon and starts having an affair with her, which his wife France (Nelly Benedetti) eventually suspects.
Kitty Cameo: In one scene Nicole and Pierre are staying in a remote country town in a hotel with separate cabins. Nicole picks up their food tray and sets it outside the door. After closing the door, a small kitten shows up and starts sniffing around the tray looking for something to eat.
A behind the scenes re-enactment of this scene was played out in Truffaut’s later film Day for Night, in which the difficulty of shooting such a seemingly simple moment is revealed.
Final Mewsings: Cats love room service!
