Both couples decide to move and even look at the same house, but in the end Thurston’s wife moves out of their apartment and instructs the landlady to give him the key to their new place. After this happens, Thurston’s former girlfriend and her husband decide to move into Thurston’s place, but of course Thurston comes home late and, being forgetful, enters his old apartment where his former lover lies sleeping. The cat enters the room and starts scratching the carpet.

After much confusion with Thurston trying to avoid getting caught in his girlfriend’s apartment once her husband returns, things get straightened out and Thurston and his wife are sitting in front of the apartment across the hall. The new neighbor opens the door and deposits the cat in Thurston’s arm before the final fade out.
