Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Based on the French film Le Dîner de Cons. Tim (Paul Rudd) is asked to attend his boss’ private dinner in which all guests are to bring an idiot for their general amusement. Tim meets Barry (Steve Carell), an awkward but creative taxidermist who seems perfect to be his invited guest.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Barry manages to turn Tim’s life upside down through constant meddlings and misunderstandings. They go to the apartment of an artist named Kieran (Jemaine Clement) whom Tim suspects may be sleeping with his girlfriend Julie (Stephanie Szostak). After stupidly throwing Tim’s keys into the apartment, Barry sneaks inside where an adorable Himalayan cat is sitting on a couch.
Ducking down behind a chair to avoid being seen by Kieran, Barry is surprised when the cat suddenly jumps onto his shoulder and fishes the stuffed mouse that looks like Tim out of Barry’s front pocket.
The cat runs away and Barry takes chase, catching up to the cat and asking for the mouse back. The cat meows at him and Barry meows back, trying to speak cat.
Amazingly the cat fetches the mouse and gives it back to Barry.
The animal wrangler on the film was Larry Madrid.
Final Mewsings: Cats will do what you want if you ask nicely.
