Also Known As: Harry in Your Pocket
Directed by: Karel Reisz
Synopsis: Schizophrenic Angela Crispini (Debra Winger) seduces private investigator Tom O’Toole (Nick Nolte), who is something of a well-intentioned chump, into investigating the bloody murder of a highly positioned local physician. O’Toole is bewildered both by Crispini’s accelerated mood swings and the maze of corruption imbedded within the class-conscious New England township.
Kitty Cameos: O’Toole attempts to bribe Amy (Kathleen Wilhoite), an abject loser who is a potential source of information about the murder, with the lure of a pizza lunch. Amy is pathetically hungry, a condition exacerbated by the fact that she’s sitting outside on a seriously derelict couch during a frigid winter day reading a book on crocheting, accompanied by two grey and white tabby cats, one on her lap and the other nosing about on the ground.

Final Mewsings: I hope that Amy takes better care of the cats than she does herself.
