Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A musician named Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) is brutally murdered along with the love of his life Shelley (Sofia Shinas) and returns from the dead to seek vengeance.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): When Eric enters his apartment after returning from the dead, a Turkish Angora cat approaches him.
The cat’s name is Gabriel and he was the pet of Eric and his fiancé.
When Eric reaches down to pick up the cat he is bombarded by memories of the night they were murdered. In the memory the cat hisses at the intruders then scratches Skank (Angel David) who is holding him.
Later Eric runs into Sarah (Rochelle Davis), a little girl who was friends with the couple. When Eric touches Sarah, he sees her memories, including her sitting with Gabriel watching Shelley trying on her wedding dress.
Gabriel is approached and petted by Eric when he first dons his Crow makeup and outfit.
The cat is also seen eating through the broken window of the apartment as the camera pans to the roof.
Later Sarah visits the apartment and finds Gabriel. She picks him up and carries him as she explores the ruins.
Finally Gabriel is sitting on the lunch counter where Sarah meets Officer Albrecht (Ernie Hudson). It would appear that Sarah decided to take care of Gabriel from then on.
In the original comic book, Gabriel was a gift for Shelley which Eric brings to the apartment one year after her death.
Final Mewsings: Cats don’t mind hanging out with deceased vigilantes.
