Synopsis: A magician named Vogler (Max von Sydow) and his assistants are sidelined by a town’s officials who demand to examine their performance to check the validity of their advertising claims and to settle a bet.

Purr Blur: Near the end of the film one of the troupe, Tubal (Åke Fridell), decides he will not continue with them but will stay with Sofia Garp (Sif Ruud), the cook of the house. As he tells them this news, he is rocking in a chair and petting a shorthair tabby cat.
