Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: A short subject documentary about a rooster living with the Bharde family in their Mumbai apartment.

Featured Felines: The father of the family, Nusrat Bharde, explains how he bought a baby chick from a man in an alley and brought it home thinking it would make a good toy for his pet cats, Ginger and Garlic. As it turns out the chick, which was a male, was able to defend itself and grew up to be an aggressive rooster.

The rooster ends up ruling the apartment, continuously scaring and chasing after the cats.

The feisty bird even eats the cats’ food when he can.

Despite the obvious drawbacks of raising a rooster in a small apartment, the family comes to care for the bird. Ginger and Garlic, however, do not.

Eventually the bird’s fate is questioned and the cats don’t seem too upset at the final decision.

A very quirky and funny film, well worth watching (it does contain a Chicken Carnage Warning, though!)

Final Mewsings: Cats and roosters do not make good roommates.
