Synopsis: Silent newsreel footage of an adorable kitten and some lion cubs in this Eve’s Film Review entry (newsreel shorts aimed at a female audience.)
Reality Cat: A kitten in a high chair is illustrated in the opening title card.
A caption states “When they grow up Eve may be tempted to throw old boots at them, but just now we can’t help loving them — ” A tiny gray kitten is shown sitting inside a small raffia box.
The kitten then plays with a toy dangling from a string.
Despite a caption about lion babies, the next shot is of the kitten arching his back as he circles a toy dog.
The kitten then wrestles with the stuffed dog.
“Having the time of his nine lives!” a caption reads and the kitten is now trying to get at the toy dog which is now in a doll’s high chair.
After this, the kitten is sitting in the high chair wearing a bib and eating from a rather large plate of food with a little girl behind him.
The girl holds the plate as the kitten scarfs down the food.
A caption then reads, “This wants some licking!” The kitten washes his paw while sitting in the chair.
Final Mewsings: It’s clear that watching cats on film is not a new phenomenon!
