Synopsis: Inferior made-for-TV sequel to the popular original theatrical film Splash. Mermaid Madison (Amy Yasbeck) and her human husband Allen (Todd Waring) return to New York City to help Allen’s brother (Donovan Scott) with the family business and eventually rescue a dolphin.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): The couple move into a fixer upper house with a busibody neighbor appropriately named Mrs. Needler (Doris Belack). Mrs. Needler walks into her backyard to feed her pet tabby cat (sounds like she is calling him Tischman). The cat is sitting patiently on a chair and gets excited when Mrs. Needler appears with some milk, but then suddenly runs away.
Mrs. Needler hears Madison swimming (as a mermaid) in her pool and tries to spy on her. At the same time Fern (Rita Taggart), the wife of an important business man, arrives at the house. Madison starts to climb out of the pool but Tischman the cat appears. The cat actor appears to be trying to get a treat placed as a marker but can’t get past Madison as she tries to climb out of the pool.
In the next shot Madison is desperately trying to dry her fin so it will turn back into legs, despite the fact that Tischman the cat has decided he prefers fish for lunch and is licking at the flopping appendage.
Final Mewsings: Cats know fish is better for them than milk.
Many thanks to Jennifer for letting us know about the cat in this film.
