A Window in London (1940)

by Mark Murton

Also Known As: Lady in Distress

Directed by: Herbert Mason

Synopsis: A man named Peter (Michael Redgrave) believes he has witnessed a murder through the window of a train and sets out to track down the killer.

Purr Blur: Following the opening titles a series of establishing shots show London coming to life at the start of a new day. Among these is one of a black cat descending some stone steps to a basement flat. The music switches for this one specific shot to a brief “cat-mewing” violin piece.
