Milk and Money (1936)

by Ted Davis

Directed by: Fred (Tex) Avery

Synopsis: Early directorial effort from the great Tex Avery, credited then as Fred, in which an overstuffed Porky Pig (voiced by Joe Fougherty) and his horse Dobbin journey to the big city to earn enough money to save the family farm from imminent foreclosure by reptilian Mr. Viper (voiced by Billy Bletcher). A foretaste of the uniquely funny and inventive cartoons that Avery would direct in the following decades.

Cartoon Cat: During Porky’s morning milk delivery, a couple of opportunistic black cats tag along behind him to slurp the milk from the bottles as soon as the hardworking pig sets them down.
