Synopsis: Second film based on the autobiographical books of James Herriot about his life as a vet in pre-war Yorkshire.
Purr Blur: James (John Alderton replacing Simon Ward in this film) wishes good morning to the occupants of the practice waiting room where various people sit with their pets, including a woman with a white cat on her lap.

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Soon after, Helen Herriot (Lisa Harrow) shows Mrs. Bond (Marjorie Sudell) and the tuxedo cat she calls ‘Seven Times Three’ (because the cat has had three kittens seven times running) into the surgery where she is greeted by chief vet Siegfried Farnon (Colin Blakely).

He quickly passes her onto his trainee colleague Richard Carmody (Paul Shelley).

Mrs. Bond hands her cat to Carmody as she informs him, quite seriously, “She has a skin growing over her eyes.”

As Carmody examines Seven Times Three the feisty feline paws at his face.

Carmody makes his diagnosis and prescribes some harmless powder to add to the cat’s food which seems to satisfy Mrs Bond. After she has departed Carmody says to Siegfried “There was nothing wrong with that cat, was there?” “No,” replies Siegfried, “There never is.”

Final Mewsings: Mrs. Bond should have been there to get Seven Times Three spayed!
